It was replaced with a re-manufactured cvt transmission under warranty. Nissan's extended warranty document claims they will assist vehicle owners with transmission related expenses for those transmissions that fail beyond the extended warranty. She didn't seem to really care about the safety aspect, and stated Nissan would not do anything for me even though this new transmission failed at just 55,000 miles. The vehicle was not repaired. She was about 150 miles from home and we had to have it towed back home to the tune of 500. Nissan refuses to cover all repair work under the extended guarantee and ensure safe driving from the debris left in the coolant line but did replace the transmission and radiator.
Nissan refuses to repair since the car is only 7000 miles outside the warranty. Hit the gas at 5 mph, transmission didn't engage. From 2012 to 2018, several models of Nissan vehicles received the transmission, including the Sentra, Versa, Versa Note, Altima, Rogue, and Murano models. This car is dangerious Nissan refused to do anything has car towed to them and called Nissan corperate and they refused to do anything when there cvt problem has not been corected and still failing on the new cars. Finally symptoms were closer together and threw codes. I had to turn the ignition to the off position.
Warranty expired in Feb 2018. The cvt, at times, fails to accelerate properly, putting driver at risk. The dealership is going to keep the car overnight and test drive it in the morning when it is cold. We were notfied that a total transmission replacement was necessary. I filed a warranty claim with Nissan as I was just slightly over the mileage warranty but well within the time frame part of the warranty.
Had to 'prove it' to dealer before they took it in for warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. He pumped the gas pedal but the car would not accelerate over 20 mph. To fix the problem the transmission must be replaced. The contact had to constantly check the gears to ensure they were changed over.
While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled intermittently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while on an incline and randomly while driving on a roadway. The dealer diagnosed and provided my options of a used cvt for 3200 or new 4000. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the transmission failed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who confirmed the transmission failure. There was no check engine light or warning prior to, during, or after the time the car shut down.
The contact made three attempts to accelerate, but was unsuccessful. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Part of that service involved inspecting the continuously variable transmission fluid. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning.
From Jan 2015- March 2015 the car stayed at the dealership for the pedal l problems which they finally fixed and I notice a recall after I had complain to Nissan of North America about. A quick search of the internet shows several people also having transmission failures at about that same mileage. This needs to be investigated and Nissan needs to be remedy the situation. I spoke to three different Nissan assist representatives. Six days later my daughter was driving it to new orleans and it stopped in the middle of the interstate.
Under The Hood The powertrain is unchanged. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. It was towed to a Nissan dealership where it was evaluated. I put every mile on it. Most complaints said after the dealer repaired the recall on the transmission it failed. I took it to the dealer ship and was told the speed sensor inside the transmission was bad.
The failure mileage was 75,000. Advised to replace fluid and monitor. I brought my car into the Nissan dealer and they confirmed that my transmission was failing, causing the lack of acceleration. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. I had to spend money out of my own pocket to have the car pass inspection in order for my daughter to drive it without getting a moving violation for failed inspection. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. Exterior This is just a mild refresh of the Versa, with changes fairly limited.
